Queensland Week celebrates the state’s birthday on 6 June and acknowledges the ‘birth’ of Queensland as a separate colony in its own right. It is an annual celebration of the state’s culture, heritage, people and industry. I for one love being a Queenslander and it is great to share this pride for where we live with the children in our care.
We have had some wonderful activities this week including:
- Making Queensland sunglasses. See this link for templates and other activities https://www.qld.gov.au/about/events-awards-honours/events/queensland-week/get-involved/assets/2016-qw-toolkit.pdf
- Making tropical fruit kebabs
- Baking an upside down pineapple cake and
- Playing Kim’s game using goggles, a pineapple, zinc cream, shells, sand and sunglasses.
What items and images do you think are iconic to Queensland?
