Chia Jam

The World Health Organisation recently recommended that adults and children reduce their daily intake of free sugars to less than 10% of their total energy intake and that a further reduction to below 5% or roughly 25 grams (6 teaspoons) per day would provide additional health benefits.

In light of this recommendation it is important to review the menu provided to children including the sandwiches we serve every day. Chia jam is a healthy substitute to traditional jams and is very easy to make.

What you need: 1 teaspoon of chia seeds per 1 cup of frozen fruit.

Method: In a container place 1 cup of frozen fruit such as strawberries or blueberries. Add one teaspoon of chia seeds and mash together. Leave in the fridge overnight then mix through before using.YUM!
